Strikeforce Champ Nick Diaz to Face Jeff Lacy in Boxing Debut This Fall

Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz is following through on his promise to begin a boxing career, as he?s reportedly agreed to face former title-holder Jeff Lacy in his debut this fall, according to a press release.

Diaz announced his boxing plans shortly after defending his Strikeforce title over Paul Daley in April, citing a lack of contenders in the promotion.

The UFC?s acquisition of Strikeforce has opened the door for a matchup with UFC champ Georges St-Pierre, but Diaz has instead opted to face Lacy, a former super middleweight champion who suffered his third loss in four fights in December.
